Short, focused lectures on classical and modern number theory—modularity, Galois representations, Diophantine problems, and links to arithmetic geometry.
Number theory in Cluj
Cluj Number Theory Circle (CNTC)
Launching September 2026 • Cluj-Napoca
The Cluj Number Theory Circle will meet in a relaxed seminar/club format with short lectures, student mini-presentations, and occasional mini-projects. We welcome students from UBB and UTCN—as well as anyone in the region who enjoys arithmetic geometry and its neighboring topics—to explore ideas together.
If you’d like to hear more and get involved, contact george.turcas@ubbcluj.ro. We will share the initial timetable and reading themes over the summer.
What we’ll do
Guided 10–20 minute presentations to build exposition skills and confidence, with mentoring for participants from both UBB and UTCN.
Occasional collaborative sprints (problem sets, reading groups, small computational explorations) to test ideas and learn together.
Stay in the loop
Want to suggest a topic, volunteer a short talk, or host a mini-project? Drop a line at george.turcas@ubbcluj.ro. We will coordinate rooms and dates with colleagues at Babeș-Bolyai University and UTCN.
